Chapter 12

Dorrien was beyond pissed. For what felt like the millionth time since their kiss two weeks ago, Lillian had been sending him to voicemail or completely avoiding him and his calls all together. As he paced his new office, he thought about driving over to Lillian's house and seducing an explanation right out of her, but he suspected that that wouldn't go over to well with her, especially if her avoiding him was any proof of how she would react. Plus, following his impulse to kiss her with the intent to seduce her was how he’d gotten himself in this mess in the first damn place.

“Fuck! Why didn't I just wait until the right time instead of trying to force her to deal with my feelings for her? Damn. How in the hell am I going to go get her to go visit Momma now? Maybe I should just try a different approach. She was big on romance. Maybe I should do something romantic to get her attention and possibly her heart. I have to do something before that dude I saw her with becomes a permanent pain in my ass.”

Dorrien ambled over to his desk and pulled up his calendar on his computer. He opened his planner and scanned it for the meeting times. When he was satisfied with his plans to try and win Lillian over, Dorrien picked up his office phone and made a few calls. He had a lot to do and only a small window of time to do it in. He needed to romance Lillian back to back so she wouldn’t have time to think of anything or anyone else. Feeling a little less annoyed and a lot more optimistic about rekindling this old flame, he let his mind wander to her curves and travel downward.

He couldn’t wait to see the look on her face when she finally gave into him and succumbed to his every stoke. The more Dorrien thought about how he and Lillian would finally reunite, the more he smiled. But then, just as quickly, his fantasies turned to fears as he thought about being turned down because she wanted to be with that other dude.

Who in the fuck is this guy and where in the fuck did he come from?

Grabbing up his phone again, he placed a call to an old friend. He wanted to know this guy’s story, and thanks to his endless connections, he would find out soon enough. When he ended that phone call, an almost sinister grin crept across his handsome face. With any luck, he would finally be able to send this guy packing and have Lillian all to himself. Standing up, he went over to his door mirror, straightened his tie, smoothed out his blazer, and headed out of the door and off to his meeting. As he whistled down the hall, he felt a grave sense of relief over the fact that he’d thought that he almost lost Lillian forever.
